Cookie policy

1. What are cookies ?

Cookies may be used during your visit to the Hannibal website. Cookies are small files that a website sends to your computer when you visit it, and that are stored on your computer. These files allow you to be recognized as a user on a later visit to the Hannibal website. Hannibal uses these cookies to make your browsing experience easier and more pleasant, and to better tailor the content to your needs and preferences by taking your previous visits into account. A cookie is therefore completely passive and contains no software programs, viruses or ‘spyware’.

2. Which cookies does Hannibal use?

Hannibal uses various cookies: both files that disappear automatically once the browser is closed and files that are also used on a later visit. Hannibal sends a number of cookies itself (‘first party cookies’), which Hannibal manages itself, including the processing of the data collected. This lets Hannibal improve your experience of its website, for example by saving your chosen language settings or preventing you from seeing the same ads over and over.

Hannibal’s partners also place cookies (‘third party cookies’), developed by or for them, to which only these partners have access, along with the information collected. Hannibal therefore has no control over and/or knowledge of the content and operation of these cookies. Advertisers may, for example, add cookies to their ads on the Hannibal website to gain insight into your areas of interest, so they only show you relevant ads.

In addition, Hannibal relies on third parties, such as Google Analytics, to analyze how the website is used. These services also place cookies on your computer to see how visitors use the website. Hannibal needs this analysis to adapt its website to visitors’ preferences, again to make it easier to use. Other third parties that can place cookies on your computer via our website are social networking services such as Facebook, Twitter and Google+. This happens through the buttons of these services you see on the website to promote (“like”) or share (“tweet”) content. These include Facebook’s famous 'Like button' and 'Like box' (Friend 1, friend 2 and x people like this), through which Facebook can recognize visitors by means of cookies.

3. Refusing or deleting cookies?

If you continue to visit the Hannibal website without changing the cookie settings and click the “continue” link, you accept the installation of cookies. You can refuse the installation of cookies through your computer’s browser settings. In that case, however, some parts of our websites may not work, or not work optimally, and/or may not be accessible, and that is of course not the idea.

You can also delete cookies already installed on your computer or mobile device at any time. After disabling and/or deleting cookies you will still see ads, but they will no longer be tailored to your previous use of the Hannibal website
